The Rhythm of Life – Question 21 – How Do Your Best Days Begin?

“Welcome back to 21 questions that will change your life.

Question #21 is about the difference between your best days, your average days, you’re not so good days, and the days you wish never happened. There is a secret to your best days. The secret is how they start. If a day doesn’t start great, it usually doesn’t get great along the way.

Question #21 is… How do your best days begin and what’s keeping you from beginning each day in that way? Write down a recipe for how your best days begin. It cannot be fantasy. You have to be in control of the factors you identify. Don’t write, “when there is no traffic” or “the sun is shining” or “I wake up dreaming about…” stick to things that your own disciplined effort can bring about.

Today’s question is… How do your best days begin and what’s keeping you from beginning each day in that way?”

The Rhythm of Life – Question 20 – What Do You Want to Do?

“Welcome back to 21 questions that will change your life.

Question #20 is about how short life is and the realty of death. We live sometimes ignoring the reality of death. We live and pretend we are going to live forever. We live thinking we can think about dying later, but death creeps up on us all. Life is short and precious.

Question #20 is… If you knew you only had one year to live, what would you spend the next year doing? Dream a little. Plan a little. Pray a little. Talk to those you love a little. There is something this question should move you to prioritize over the next year.

Today’s question is… If you knew you only had one year to live, what would you spend the next year doing?”

The Rhythm of Life – Question 19 – Take Your Life Off Hold

“Welcome back to 21 questions that will change your life.

Question #19 is about delaying tactics. Do you like being put on hold? How long will you stay on hold if you make a call and get placed on hold? What sorts of feelings and thoughts do you have after a minute? What about after five minutes? 10 minutes? 30 minutes? An hour? It’s amazing how much rage can build up in people just by being placed on hold.

Question #19 is… What is “on hold” in your life and how would addressing it change your life? Just like you don’t like being put on hold on the phone, your life doesn’t like being put on hold. It’s time to do something about that.

Today’s question is… What is “on hold” in your life and how would addressing it change your life?”

The Rhythm of Life – 21 Questions that will Change Your Life – Question #18: What Are You Avoiding?

Welcome back to 21 questions that will change your life.

Question #18 is about avoidance. We avoid things that are good for us. We avoid difficult but necessary conversations. We avoid people who will challenge us to grow. We avoid certain books because we know they will change our lives. We avoid conflict.

Question #18 is… What are you avoiding and how is it hurting you?

We are given the ability to avoid for good reason, because some things and people and situations are dangerous and should be avoided. But we use our ability to avoid in unhealthy ways that prevent us from growing and become an obstacle to happiness.

Today’s question is… What are you avoiding and how is it hurting you?

“It is disturbing that at a time when millions of Catholics are angry and disillusioned with the Church, there has been no significant effort to remind Catholics of who we really are, no strategic effort to raise our morale, no organized effort to remind the world that, for the past two thousand years, wherever you find Catholics, you find a group of people making enormous contributions to the local, national, and international community.” – Rediscover Catholicism

The Rhythm of Life – 21 Questions that will Change Your Life – Question #17: What Brings You to Life?

“Welcome back to 21 questions that will change your life.

Question #17 is about regrets and dreams. We have an incredible ability to look into the future and envision a life and a world that is better. Are you using that ability?

Question #17 is… Cast your mind to ten or twenty years from now… what’s the one thing that if you didn’t at least try to accomplish you would always regret?

What are you afraid of? What’s holding you back? In what small way can you begin your dream and test it… try it… give it a chance?

Today’s question is… Cast your mind to ten or twenty years from now… what’s the one thing that if you didn’t at least try to accomplish you would always regret?”

The Rhythm of Life – 21 Questions that will Change Your Life – Question #16: Can You Be Whole Again?

“Welcome back to 21 questions that will change your life.

Question #16 is about being whole. So many aspects of life and society try to break us up into little bits so it is critically important that we look at ourselves as a whole person on a daily basis.

Question #16 is… In what ways does your lifestyle promote (or detract from) your physical, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual well-being? Reflect on each of the four aspects of the human person: physical, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual.

Today’s question is… In what ways does your lifestyle promote (or detract from) your physical, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual well-being?”

The Rhythm of Life – 21 Questions that will Change Your Life – Question #15: Are You Creating Memories?

“Welcome back to 21 questions that will change your life.

Question #15 is about making memories. What do you see when you look back on all the memories of your life? If all your memories were a movie, what category would that movie belong to? Comedy, tragedy, drama, musical, romantic comedy?

Question #15 is… If you had to choose between losing all your memories and never being able to make new ones, which would you choose? Tough question. Brutally tough question. But life itself is full of difficult choices. Every choice eliminates every other possibility.

Would you rather have your memories of the past or the chance to make new memories? Tough choice. You don’t have to make it, but thinking about tough questions changes the way we live our lives.

Today’s question is… If you had to choose between losing all your memories and never being able to make new ones, which would you choose?”

The Rhythm of Life – 21 Questions that will Change Your Life – Question #14: What’s Stopping Your Growth?

“Welcome back to 21 questions that will change your life.

Question #14 is about all the things you think you should do. It is easy for our lives to get filled with shoulds. The question is, who is making the shoulds?

Question #14 is… Are your “shoulds” getting in the way of your growth and happiness?

Next time you think you should do something, test the assumption. Is it really something you should do? Or is it something someone along the way said you should do that you really should discard now because it no longer serves your growth?

What’s behind each should? Wisdom, guilt, misplaced expectations, manipulation, thoughtfulness, fear, generosity… You can learn a lot about a should by looking at what’s behind a should.

Today’s question is… Are your “shoulds” getting in the way of your growth and happiness?”

The Rhythm of Life – 21 Questions that will Change Your Life – Question #13: Do You Need a Break?

“Welcome back to 21 questions that will change your life.

Question #13 is about your body and how it talks to you. Our bodies talk to us all the time. They say, “I’m hungry” “I’m thirsty” “I’m tired.” “I need a shower.” “Pass the salt.” The body is constantly talking to us, and very often ordering us around. But the body is like money, a great servant and a horrible master.

Question #13 is… If your body could talk to you, what do you think it would say? Would it tell you to slow down? Would it say you need a break? Maybe it would tell you that you need to visit your doctor.

Today’s question is… If your body could talk to you, what do you think it would say?”
